Light and Darkness

This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.
For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.
John 3:19-21

I love looking at the stars at night. With less light pollution here, I can see so many more stars than at home. There are no street lights, no dorm lights, no car lights to interfere with the shining of the stars and moon that God created. However, as I gaze upon the beauty of the night sky in the physical darkness, I’m reminded that I am in a place of much more spiritual darkness.

It is very clear that there is a spiritual battle between light and darkness here. As much we try to be lights, men love the darkness that they are in. Some village people don’t want us here because we talk about the Light that exposes evil works. We know that Jesus Christ is the only Way, the only One they need to know, but people want to remain in the darkness. The Evil One continues to deceive people into believing that they have to earn their way to heaven. It makes me sad to know that people are content in their spiritual darkness. I want them to know and experience the joy that comes with being in the light and seeing the Truth of the gospel totally illuminated.

So I am praying fervently that the truth would come into the light in this dark place. As much darkness that is around, I know the Light will triumph. I look forward to the day that the angels rejoice over the people in D. who are repenting and entering the Kingdom. Please join me in praying that men would not love the darkness but would seek and find truth in Jesus Christ.
